Chlamydia trachomatis is an STD which can be easily contracted by a patient. The mucous membranes of the urethra, the anus, the throat and/or cervix are infected by this bacterium. Initially, Chlamydia trachomatis causes few complaints, so that the STD often goes unnoticed. Eurofins | NMDL-LCPL can give you a definite answer when this genital infection is suspected. Due to its high sensitivity and specificity, PCR is the best choice for detecting Chlamydia trachomatis.

Examination for Chlamydia trachomatis differs between men and women. For a man, the chlamydia test can be done by sending in urine, a rectal swab or an oral swab. For a woman, the chlamydia test can be done by sending in a vaginal swab, a rectal swab or an oral swab. You fix the swab or urine in the Cobas tube and send it to us by post. You will receive the result within five working days. The guideline that we follow is a multidisciplinary guideline of the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Dermatologie en Venereologie (NVDV - Dutch Society for Dermatology and Venereology) and the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Medische Microbiologie (NVMM - Dutch Society for Medical Microbiology).
